Miguel Castro Freitas has been appointed as Mugler's new Creative Director, succeeding Casey Cadwallader after his impactful seven-year tenure.
He is a Portuguese designer, graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2004 and has an extensive background in luxury fashion. He has worked with iconic names such as John Galliano at Dior, Stefano Pilati at Yves Saint Laurent, Alber Elbaz at Lanvin, and Raf Simons at Dior. Most recently, he served as the creative director of Sportmax from 2021 to 2024. Known for his mastery of tailoring and structured silhouettes, Freitas blends avant-garde creativity with wearable designs.
Steven Meisel has collaborated with Miu Miu for its 2025 Leather Goods campaign, featuring Gigi Hadid in a series of striking, painterly-inspired portraits. The campaign highlights Miu Miu's signature matelassé leather, now reimagined in velvety suede for the Wander and Arcadie handbags, blending art and fashion seamlessly.
The visuals evoke the elegance of 20th-century high society portraiture while incorporating modern artistry. Each image is digitally hand-painted to mimic brushstrokes, creating a unique texture that bridges painting and photography.
